Project Overview
We collaborated with ZZK Records on the music video for “Malvada,” the second single from Nuevos Ríos. Built on bold graphic compositions by Thomas Deude, our role focused on translating static visuals into motion and bringing rhythm, flow, and intensity to life on a fast, focused production timeline.
The goal was to support the music visually without overpowering it, letting movement amplify the collective energy already present in the sound.

Background
Background
The video is driven by marimba, percussion, voices, and an unmistakable collective pulse rooted in Afro-Colombian Pacific traditions. Our motion work responds directly to that rhythm that is layered, intentional, and precise creating a visual cadence that feels ceremonial, alive, and immersive.
Inspired by the duality of La Malvada, the visuals balance tension and harmony, tradition and experimentation, softness and force. Each movement choice was made to serve the music and its cultural depth, treating motion as a shared language rather than decoration.

Animation
Animation
The animation process began with bold, graphic compositions by Thomas Deude. Our role was to translate those static illustrations into motion—finding rhythm, pacing, and breath within the forms rather than simply animating for effect.
Movement was designed to respond directly to the music: marimba patterns informed timing, percussion shaped acceleration and pauses, and vocal layers influenced scale, density, and flow. Each animated element was treated like an instrument within the composition, every motion is precise, intentional, and interconnected.
Rather than imposing a narrative, the motion follows the music’s pulse, allowing visuals to rise, collide, and resolve in sync with the collective energy of the track. The result is a visual language that feels ceremonial and alive.

Moving Rhythm
From the banks of the Timbiquí River to dance floors around the world, the piece carries themes of resistance, joy, and transformation. We were grateful to collaborate closely with ZZK Records, Thomas Deude, Nicolas Son, Grant C. Dull, Dat Garcia, and the entire Nuevos Ríos team on a project driven by trust, alignment, and shared creative energy.
